The trustees and volunteers of the D-9 Foundation are gearing up for their major fund raising event of the year, a Benefit Weekend, Sept. 8 and Sept. 9. The weekend starts with a dinner followed by an auction, Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Eagle Point Golf Club. Last year over 225 members of the community attended the dinner and supported the efforts of the foundation by lively bidding during
the auction. A full golf tournament begins the next day with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
Mike Bowles, chief executive officer of the D-9 Foundation, reports that many dedicated
community volunteers are now putting the finishing touches on the auction. They have
assembled a wide variety of items that will appeal to a full range of interests and
budgets. A more complete list will appear in next week’s total market edition of the
Upper Rogue Independent but some items of note include: private plane scenic flights,
resort stays on the coast, golfing package at the Running Y resort, Texas Hold’em Poker
night for 50, guided fishing trips, dinner and fire engine ride for eight offered by Fire
District #3, Seventh Mountain resort stay for one week, Ashland cultural package, Britt
Festival package, and a one week stay at the Mayan Palace in Acapulco, Mexico.
One of the auction items that is hoped to generate attention is an ownership offered for
a two bedroom Eagle Crest Resort condominium. Art work by Kim Ragsdale and Linda
Boutacoff and others will be included. For the U of O Duck fan or the OSU Beaver fan, an
interior solid wood door will be sold featuring your school’s logo routed into the door.
JELD-WEN door systems is offering this unique item.
Peoples Bank of Commerce is once again offering a real estate financing package that
could save you thousands of dollars if you are looking to purchase a new home or a 1-4
family investment property or even refinance your existing home mortgage. Ken
Trautman and his staff are ready to answer your questions about this fantastic offer.
Though time is running out, Bowles reminds our supportive community, there is still
time to send reservations to attend the dinner to Olive Lansburgh and contact Joe
Scheffler or Bob Kleker for golf tournament team or sponsorship sign up. The
foundation can always use additional items for its benefit oral and silent auctions.
Please contact Murrit Davis for these.
Proceeds from the benefit weekend support scholarship distribution, dental and
vaccination program costs in School District #9 for our students. The trustees urge
everyone to get involved in this most worthwhile cause that directly supports and
benefits the students in our schools.
