The spring-fed fresh water system at Tub Springs State Wayside on Highway 66 east of Ashland is out of commission until August 31.
A leak damaged the electrical system, and repairs are underway. The park’s picnic tables, restrooms and parking lot will remain open while repairs are completed.
Wagon trains on the Applegate Trail stopped at the spring in the mid 1800s, and the site became a state park in 1939. Visitors from all over southern Oregon still come to the park for a sample of the fresh, clear water.
Staff of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department will issue a notice when the water systems are repaired.
