Vacant seat on E Point City Council is filled

Four Eagle Point residents applied to fill the unexpired term of the late City Councilor Garey Walruff.
The applicants were:
Suzi Collins, an active member of the Eagle Point Community Association, 4th of July Parade Committee, and Eagle Point Women’s Club with a background in customer service, real estate and mortgage lending.
Rodney Goodman, real estate broker and member of the Eagle Point Budget Committee.
Mike Parker, current chair of the Eagle Point Planning Commission, 14 years and current chair RV Sewer Services, managing partner progressive Audio Cellular.
Ken Thompson, former parks and recreation commissioner and former Eagle Point planning commissioner, currently office manager, Eagle Point Historical Society.
The council selected Mike Parker.
"This is probably the best qualified list of applicants we have ever had," said Mayor Leon Sherman. After the council made their selection, he encouraged the other candidates to apply for the seat left vacant on the planning commission with the appointment of  Parker.
Police Chief Dave Strand was reelected chairman of Southern Oregon Regional Communications and announced that fiber optic lines have been installed for security.
