Bertha Ellen Clayton

Bertha Ellen Clayton, 87, of Eagle Point, died Sept. 20, 2007 at Rogue Valley Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born March 27, 1920 in Rock River, Wyo., to Carl and Anna Van Ortwick.
In 1936, she married Calvin Clayton of Medford. They lived throughout the Rogue Valley, including Prospect and Eagle Point.
She enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting, canning and crafting, but was an avid fan of the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. She enjoyed spending time at the Eagle Point Grange, where she was honored just last week as a 25-year member, and at the Senior Center in Eagle Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, a sister, Freda Williams; brothers, Clyde and Roy Van Ortwick; and four grandchildren .
She is survived by three sons, Carl, Josie and John; her daughter, Anna DeBooy; sisters, Agnes Stockford and Velma Bennett; 16 grandchildren; 24 grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A private graveside memorial service will be held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eagle Point Senior Center or the Eagle Point Grange.
