It has been just over two months since Kenny Weems, age 21, of Shady Cove was reported to have been accidentally shot at an address on Old Trail Creek Road. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Since then it has been a roller-coaster ride with many hard landings.
According to a family friend, infection has plagued him since he was shot. A good portion of his liver has been removed and he is facing removal of one lung.
After being hospitalized in Medford, he had to be airlifted to Portland. This routine has been repeated at least one other time. And he has had something like nine or 12 surgeries, according to the family friend.
The bills far exceed $1 million, said the family friend.  His prognosis is unclear. A fund has been set up in the name of Kenny Weems at any Washington Mutual Bank branch.
