Pat Ashley, of Eagle Point, has been appointed to fill the vacant Zone 4 position on the Rogue Community College Board of Directors. As an interim member, her term will run through June 2009. She will be eligible to seek election in May 2009.
Ashley, a retired television producer, was unanimously appointed during
a special session Aug. 24. She will represent RCC District voters in
northeast Jackson County, including Eagle Point, Prospect, Butte Falls,
parts of Medford and Phoenix-Talent.
Ashley, who was known
professionally as Patricia Rickey, was a television producer in the Los
Angeles area from 1974-1997. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities
from Oklahoma State University and also has a secondary teaching
certificate. She is a volunteer with the Eagle Point Friends of the
Library, serving as vice president, and is a member of the Community
Health Center governance and development committees. She also
volunteers as a grant evaluator for the Oregon Community Foundation.
She has served on the Jackson County Library Advisory Committee, on the
Rogue Gallery and Art Center Board of Directors and on the Art in Bloom
"I am really excited," said Ashley. "I am such an
advocate of RCC. It does so much for the community. It not only gives
our youth opportunities, look what it offers adults who want to get
back into the workforce."
Ashley will be sworn in at the next regular meeting of the RCC board, which is Sept. 18.

vacant in July when Charles Warren resigned. Applicants were
interviewed at the RCC board’s Aug. 21 meeting.
