EPMS Panthers trounce Ashland

The Eagle Point Middle School Panthers 7th grade team went to Ashland, Tuesday, Oct. 12.  It was a great day for playing football.  Ashland started the game with a drive that ended with negative yardage.  They punted and Jessie Sattler returned the ball 43 yards to Ashland’s 17 yard line.  Two plays later, Johnny Wilkerson punched it in for the Panthers first score.  Justin Hartman carried the ball for the 2-point conversion and the Panthers led 8 – 0.

Augino held Ashland to minus 3 yards.  With an 8 – 0  to start the
second half, the Panthers went to work with Johnny Wilkerson finishing
off a 78 yard drive with a 23 yard touchdown.  Ashland scored on a 62
yard drive and a 2-pt conversion and the 3rd quarter score was 14 to 8.
The 4th quarter was no different.  The Panthers next score
came on a pass from quarterback Jesse Sattler to Curtis Augino. 
Wilkerson ran it in for the 2-pt conversion.  Ashland didn’t lay down
as they came right back and scored on their next possession to make the
score 22 – 14.  The Panthers were determined to win as they powered the
ball 51 yards and another Wilkerson touchdown.  The final score was 30
– 14 in favor of the Panthers.  The Panthers held Ashland to 111 yards
of offense and a total of 150 all purpose yards while they racked up
247 yards of offense and 370 all purpose yards.
These kids
are a great group of kids.  Many are playing football for the first
time and they are working hard to get better.  The coaching staff says
they are very proud of these young men and what they have been able to
accomplish so far.
