Eagle Point’s festivities will begin on Friday, Dec. 7 with a tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. at Bob Moore Park, on Main St. Members of Garey Walruff’s family will officially light the tree. Mr. Walruff was a big supporter of the Christmas program and of the Memory Light program. He died suddenly and most unexpectedly this summer. He was a member of the Eagle Point City Council.
Santa will arrive on a Fire District No. 3 truck to lead the children’s parade to the Ashpole Center where he will listen to the wants of all the children. There will be candy and stuffed animals for the children. Photos can be taken with Santa for $1 or bring your own camera and take a picture.
Christmas Around Town is another project of the Eagle Point Community Association.
The Eagle Point Lion’s Club will have chili and elephant ears for sale from 5 p.m. on.
activities in Eagle Point will include the Live Nativity at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 16. It originates at Bob Moore Park and goes to the
Community Bible Church next door to the Grange. Refreshments will be
served. This is a joint project of the Eagle Point Community Bible
Church and the Eagle Point Church of the Nazarene.
deadline for participating in the Eagle Point residential and business
lighting/decorating contest is Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. Entry forms
are at city hall and at the Upper Rogue Independent in Ray’s Shopping
Center, Linn and Hwy. 62. Entries within three miles of the Eagle Point
City Hall are eligible for the contest. Judging is based on:
- Creativity- 15%
- Lighting- 15%
- Difficulty- 20%
- theme 30%
Prizes are: 1st- $100, 2nd- $75, 3rd- $50 and 4th- $25 for residential.
Business prize- 1st place- $100
Judging is on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Winners will be announced in the Upper Rogue Independent.
