EPHS teen wins world teen powerlift title

Once again Amanda Wass makes the news. And this time it is as the World Champion in the 16-17-year-old Teen Women’s Division Powerlifting competition.
Amanda competed against 14 girls in her division. Several weighed considerably more than she did. Amanda began her lift at 308 lbs. and won the event at 336 lbs.
Bob Wass, Amanda’s dad, placed third in the world competition. He competed in the 54-60-year-old division and was at the high end age-wise since he turned 61 last Saturday. He says that will put him as the youngest in the next age bracket and he has every intention of becoming the Oregon Champion next year.
The event was held at the Hilton Hotel in Anaheim, Calif., Nov. 15-20.
