Human remains found in structure fire

On Monday, Dec., 10 at about 7:20 a.m.,Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 6608 Table Rock in Central Point, along with Jackson County Fire District No. 3 for a reported structure fire.

While the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered the remains of a human that appeared to be an adult. The victim’s identity has not been determined. Oregon State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

Investigators with the Jackson County Major Assault & Death Investigation Unit are investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s office at 774-6800.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle that is missing from the residence. It is described as a grey, 1977 Plymouth van, Oregon license 352CYV. If this vehicle is located, do not approach it. Call 911 immediately.
