Jackson County soil & water district dinner

The Jackson Co. Soil & Water Conservation District will hold their annual meeting on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. at the OSU Extension auditorium, 659 Hanley Rd. The reservation deadline is Jan 11. Tickets are $7 for a barbecue dinner. There will be an auction, awards and chance for a door prize.
Dan Daggett, accomplished author, public speaker and consultant in collaborative conflict resolution and restorative land management, will be the guest speaker.
Dagget authored the Pulitzer Prize nominated book, Beyond the Rangeland Conflict: Toward a West That Works.  This work profiles 10 rancher-conservationist partnerships that demonstrate positive methods for creating sustainable ways of inhabiting the land and investigates the collaborative work between the environmentalist community and rural agriculture. The book has been hailed as one of the most important recently written about rangeland management.
Daggett is also the author of Gardeners of Eden: Rediscovering Our Importance to Nature, which reveals the important role humans have played and continue to play as the keystone of ecosystems.
RSVP by Jan. 11 to Markie Germer (541) 734-3143 or mail a check with your name, address and phone number to Germer at JSWCD, 573 Parson Dr. Ste 102, Medford, OR 97501.
