Quintion R. Matthews

Quintion R. Matthews, 89, was born on April 29, 1919, to Greenville Matthews and Ida Dahack. He was the youngest of five children. He was a direct descendant of the 1851 pioneers and ranching Matthews family that named Eagle Point in 1853.
Mr. Matthews worked in the mills in his younger days, but a lot of his life was spent as a rancher. He had many cows and horses and grew his own hay and alfalfa on his ranch.
In 1938, he married Betty Morris. They divorced in 1951. They had three children from that union; Barbara Wedlake, Shannon Fisher and Rick Matthews.
In 1960, he married Agnes (Steiner) Matthews. They divorced in 2004. She preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2008.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his three children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raleigh, Nye and Vern; a sister, Sadie; and a granddaughter, Sherri, who died in December 2007.
He was one of a kind, always did things on his own terms. He will always be missed and loved.
A private graveside funeral was held on his ranch in Eagle Point on Jan. 18, 2008.
