Outdoor equipment, safety groups at Feb. 23 Safety Awareness Day

Make plans to attend the 2nd annual Safety Awareness Day to be held in the Wal-Mart Super Center parking lot this Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10-4 p.m. South Valley Bank, Wal-Mart Super Center and the Upper Rogue Independent are sponsoring the event. It is an  effort to make the public more aware of the obstacles one faces with inclement weather and to demonstrate equipment that is used to assist people when they are lost or ill.
There will be exhibits and demonstrations by a number of groups including Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol, Jackson County Search & Rescue, Rogue Snowmobilers, Medford Power Sports, Temporary Insandity.com and Oregon Volunteer Dune Patrol.
In addition, there will be opportunity to see the latest rescue equipment including helicopters, snowmobiles, snow cats and ATV’s.
Coffee, hot chocolate, apple cider, chili and hot dogs will be sold with all donations for the food going to Search & Rescue.
