Eagle Point completed the first day of the 5A Wrestling tournament in Portland in first place with a score of 48.5. Hillsboro was close behind with 44 and Crater ended day one with a score of 36.
First day winners included Ben Zomerdyk at 112, Trenton Kaiser at 119, Kevin Leonardo at 125, Matt Wilson at 135, Blake Platt at 135, Brady Holland at 140, Tony Pinedo and Scott Leonardo, both at 152, Stephen Josephson at 160 and Robby Mannenbach at 171.
In the quarterfinals, Trenton Kaiser dec. Brett Gast, Crook County 13-0, Matt Wilson pinned his opponent, Mike Savage of Pendleton at 1:25.
At 160, Steven Josephson earned a decision over Ignat Antonnoivich 13-5 and Robby Mannebach had a decision 5-2 over Adam Carrol of Silverton.
In the semi-finals Friday night, Micahh Perry of Crook County pinned Steven Josephone at 1:43.

Eagle Point had three headed to the consolation semi-finals mid-Saturday. They were Brady Holland, Scott Leonardo and Steven Josephson.
Going into Saturday events, Eagle Point was slightly ahead of Crater (89.5 -84) and hoping to come home with a fourth place trophy. However, Crater edged out Eagle Point with several more than Eagle Point advancing in the consolation matches. And they had a state champion in Brock Gutches. Eagle Point’s Mannenbach lost in a technical fall 17-2 in the championship round against Randy Larson of Hermiston.
Eagle Point ended in fifth place with 108.5 points while Crater had 127.5. The winner was Hermiston with 192.
