The 2008 July 4th Committee reviewed last year and checked over plans for this year’s festive event at their initial meeting. The next meeting will be April 21 at 7 p.m. at the Ashpole Center. Everyone interest in helping with the event is asked to attend.
Several ideas for a theme were discussed. Consideration was given to the ability for parade participants to relate to the theme. The committee selected "The Bounty of America" as the theme. This year July 4th is on a Friday.
The Parade Marshal(s) will be announced at a later date after they have been invitee and have accepted.

Bunny Lincoln said Central Point will hold their
parade at 9:30, which should allow people enough time to also

Following the July
4th meeting, the Eagle Point Community Association held their monthly
meeting. They will hold their annual meeting on April 21 following the
next July 4th meeting and at that time, they will elect officers for
the coming year.
A report was given on the Exotic Dessert
Auction. As previously reported, it had record attendance. However, the
gross was just half of the previous year due primarily to the slowdown
in the housing market. The Eagle Point community Association and the
Eagle Point High School Boosters Club each received $2,640. The
Boosters will be sharing their proceeds with some high school groups.
