St. Patrick's Day dinner at URCC, March 15

It is that time of year again when anyone with even the tiniest bit of Irish in their blood anticipates the "Wearin’ O’ the Green." A traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner at the Upper Rogue Community Center on Saturday, March 15 at 5:30 p.m. offers a chance to don those green garments.

After a festive meal cooked by Dee Rowe, Ginny Rigel and Lois Holland, those attending will see a musical performance. The talented "Jammers" will entertain with their blend of blues, country and other favorite songs for the enjoyment of the party-goers.

Irish Ballads are at the top of their list, according to guitarist Stan Johnson. And as a special treat, first generation American of Irish descent, Kathleen Collins, will sing  "Danny Boy" and one other special song. When Collins sang an emotional "Danny Boy" last year, a haunting quality in her voice brought tears to the eyes of some.

A 25-25-50- drawing is an added attraction for two lucky people who purchase winning tickets. All proceeds from the dinner and raffle benefit youth programs at the center.

The cost of the dinner is $5.00 per person and $11.00 for families of three or more. For more information, call 878-2702. The Upper Rogue Community Center is at 22465 Highway 62 (behind Shady Cove City Hall).
