Butte Falls students head to various academic events

Students at Butte Falls High School have been involved in several enrichment events. Three students went to the Model UN and last week participated in the state speech tournament. FBLA went to Portland last week and Close-Up will be going to Washington, D.C. at the end of May.

Supt. Tim Sweeney told the school board that at the most recent
staff meeting discussion involved encouraging and challenging students
of all abilities.

Chris Mathas reported students will be
attending the RCC build-a-thon on April 25 and that there will be a
commercial construction tour on May 7.

Students who
participated in the Glendale Science Fair were successful, according to
information Jim Hutchins gave to board member Dan Murphy.

As
reported elsewhere in the Upper Rogue Independent, the Butte Falls
Library will be relocating in one wing of the district office while the
county library is being remodeled.

Prior to the regular
school board meeting, the budget committee met at 4:30 p.m. to receive
Supt. Sweeney’s budget message. The next meeting will be Monday, April
28 at 4:30 p.m.
