Lady Eagles 8,South Medford 2

On Thursday April 17, the Lady Eagles hosted the South Medford Panthers in a non-league contest. The Lady Eagles came away with an 8-2 victory. Karlie Stephens pitched well giving up 1 earned run while striking out 4, and not walking a single hitter. The Eagles offense was led by Mackenzie Re who was 3 for 3 on the day with a triple, a double, and 4 RBI’s. Re was aided by Cheree Dale who was 2 for 2 with a triple, a double and one RBI.

On Saturday April 19 the Lady Eagles played Mazama in a doubleheader
closing out the first round of Southern Sky Conference play. The Eagles
split the two games winning 2-1 and losing the second game by a 5-1
count. The split left the Eagles in third place, a game behind Crater
and Ashland in their quest of a playoff spot. Karlie Stephens ran her
record to 9-2 giving up 4 hits, 1 earned run and striking out 8 Mazama
hitters without a walk. The Eagles put up 2 first inning runs, with
Katie Jolliffe leading off the game with a double. Mackenzie Re drove
Jolliffe home with a double of her own, and scored on Ashley
Josephson’s RBI single. Josephson was 3 for 3 on the day and Jamie
Paxton picked up a pair of hits for the Eagles.
   
In game two
the Eagles never found their offensive rhythm scoring a single run on
six hits. Mackenzie Re was 3 for 3 with a triple and scored the lone
Eagle run. The Eagles were sloppy defensively leading to three unearned
Mazama runs.
   
The Lady Eagles ran their Southern Sky Conference record to 5-1 with 12-2 and 9-6 victories over Mazama.
   
Tuesday
April 22, the Lady Eagles hosted Summit High School from Bend in a
non-league double header. The Eagles swept the visiting "Storm" by
scores of 11-1 and 12-2. The Eagles score early and often leading 6-1
after four innings. The Eagles ended the game with a 5 run 5th inning.
The inning was highlighted by Katie Jolliffe’s double and RBI singles
by Mackenzie Re, Ashley Josephson, and Jamie Paxton. Karlie Stephens
threw a 5 inning, 2 hitter with 10 strike outs, no walks, and no earned
runs. Jolliffe was 1 for 4 with one double and one run scored, Jen
Fernandes was 1 for 3 with one double, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI’s, Re
was 3 for 3 with one double, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI’s, Josephson was
1 for 2 with one run scored, and 1 RBI, Paxton was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s.
   
In
game two the eagles jumped in front 8-0 through 4 innings, Summit
countered with 2 runs in the 5th inning and the Eagles sealed the deal
with 4 -6th inning runs. Chloe Hanson ran her record to 3-3 on the
season. Hanson gave up one earned run on 5 hits, with 5 strikeouts, and
no walks.
   
Jolliffe was 2 for 4 with one double, and 3 runs
scored, Fernandes was 3 for 4 with one double, and 2 runs scored, with
2 RBI’s, Re was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI’s, Josephson was
3 for 4 with one double, and 2 RBI’s, Paxton was 3 for 4 with 2 runs
scored and 1 RBI, and Stephens was 1 for 2 with one double, and 3 RBI’s.
   

The
Lady Eagles improved their record to 13-5 on the season and hosted
Crater Saturday the 26th in an Southern Sky Conference doubleheader.
This was the last regular season home game for the 2008 season.
