URCC recognizes hunger with povety dinner

The Upper Rogue Community Center is holding a "Poverty Dinner" as part of the Oregon Hunger Awareness Week and to raise funds for their Food Pantry.  This event will be held on Friday, April 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m.   The cost is $5 per person or $11 per family or the donation of two (2) nonperishable items per person.

Attendees will be divided into three groups representing high, middle
and low income and then will receive a meal based on their randomly
drawn income level.

These levels will be based on the income
levels of the Upper Rogue community.  One-third of dinner attendees
will receive the low income meal, 10 percent will receive the high
income meal, and the rest will receive the middle class meal.

Items
requested for donation include: macaroni & cheese; boxed noodle
mix, soups, chili, refried beans, tuna, rice-a-roni, canned fruit or
vegetables, dry noodles, rice or personal care items such as soap,
toilet paper, toothpaste, etc.

If you are interested in helping in any way or need more info, call the URCC at 878-2702.
The Upper Rogue Community Center is located in Shady Cove behind city hall.
