White City youth is Pop Warner Little Scholar

Eleven-year-old Tristan Blackman has been named to the Pop Warner Little Scholars 2nd team. He received a $500 award last fall and, with his parents Jeff and Nicole Blackman, recently attended an award presentation in Santa Clara, Calif.

Tristan is the only youth in Oregon  from Eugene south to earn this honor.

He has been a member of the PeeWee Gold Eagles Team, participates
in the U.S. Navy Cadet program and has his own shoeshining business in
Medford. Academically, he was placed at about a 96 g.p.a.

Tristan is in the 5th grade at Harvest Baptist School. He and his family live in White City.

The
family would like to be able to take Tristan to the national awards
event May 23-24 in Orlando, Fla., but doubts that will happen because
of the cost.

A youth from Ashland earned Honorable Mention in the Little Scholars program.

According to Tristan father, there were only about 20 in the nation to earn status on the
first team.
