Lady Eagles split with Crater, defeat South

On Saturday April 26, the Lady Eagles hosted the Crater Comets in their last regular season home games. The Comets and Eagles split with Crater winning the first game 11-0 and the Eagles came back to win the second game 10-7 in eleven innings.

The Eagles failed to score for only the second time this season. Karlie
Stephens got all three of Eagle Points hits. Stephens suffered the loss
on the mound, as the Eagles gave up 7 unearned runs, committed a season
high six errors in the game.
   
The Eagles got off to a slow
start spotting Crater 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and trailed
6-3 after 2 innings. Ashley Josephson launched a 2 run home run in the
bottom of the 3rd to get the Eagles within a run. Crater scored an
unearned run in the top of the 4th and the Eagles evened the score at 7
with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Chloe Hanson led off the
4th with a single and Keyonna Kayser reached on an error, Katie
Jolliffe plated Hanson with a single and Kayser scored on an error.
Both teams failed to score for the next six innings. Stephens pitched a
1, 2, 3 11th and in the bottom Jolliffe walked, and Jen Fernandes was
hit by a pitch, after an out, Josephson smacked a 3 run home run to
right-center to end the game. Stephens pitched the entire game
recording 11 strikeouts, without a walk. Josephson was 3 for 5 with 2
home runs and 5 RBI’s, Jolliffe went 2 for 4, with 1 triple and 2
RBI’s, Fernandes went 2 for 4, with 1 triple and 1 RBI, Stephens 2 for
5 led the way offensively for the Eagles.
   
The Lady Eagles
played South Medford on Thursday May 1st at Fagone Field. The Eagles
prevailed 4-1 in 8 innings. South Medford took on early lead scoring in
the 2nd inning on a lead off single a sacrifice bunt, a passed ball,
and a sacrifice fly. The Eagles evened the score in the 6th on singles
by Katie Jolliffe and Mackenzie Re and a double steal. After a
scoreless 7th inning the Eagles plated three runs on singles by
Jolliffe, Re, Karlie Stephens, and Jamie Paxton. Stephens shot down the
Panthers in the bottom of the 8th for the win, running her season
record to 12-3. The Eagles played errorless defense led by Jolliffe who
had 8 assists and made some spectacular plays to save hits. Pitching:
Chloe Hansen- 3 innings pitched with 1 hit, 1 run, 1 error, 3
strike-outs and 1 walk; Karlie Stephens- pitched 5 innings with 1 hit,
no runs, no errors, 4 strike-outs and no walks.
   
Re went 4
for 4 with 1 triple and 1 run; Jolliffe went 2 for 4 with 1 run;
Stephens went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI; Paxton went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.
