The
Eagle Point Parks & Recreation program began in February 2004. For
two weeks in July and two weeks in August, each week 50 children come
for 4 ½ hours of games, songs, lunch, arts and crafts, special events
and field trips. Each week is designed around a theme such as "Water
Week," "Clownin’ Around" or "A Little Buggy" to name a few themes.

The
other major youth program is the Jr. Eagles Co-Ed volleyball and Girls
and Boys Basketball. This program runs from September-March. It serves
over 375 students in 2nd-5th grade. It takes 75+ coaches, who are
volunteers, to put this all together.

A portion of the
monies raised by Picnic in the Park will go toward providing
scholarship for those children who would otherwise not be able to
participate.

"The Picnic in the Park event has the
potential not only to expose the public to our gorgeous new park and
visitor information center," said Sherry Bailey, Eagle Point Parks and
Recreation Coordinator, "it will help raise funds and awareness for the
skatepark, but also provide recreational activities for well deserving
youth."

The Eagle Point Womens Club  is helping to staff
this event. Corporate sponsors include Rogue Federal Credit Union,
Grange Co-op, Wal-Mart, and Avista.  For tickets and information call
