Anzel C. Conley

Anzel C. Conley, 90, of Butte Falls, died June 12, 2008 at Providence Medford Medical Center after being involved in a single car automobile accident on Butte Falls Highway.  He was born in Medford in 1918, to Clay Conley and Viola Chapman.
   
He married Ellen J. Terry, who survives, in Medford in 1938.
   
Mr. Conley worked in the woods for Medford Corp for 50 years and two days. He began as a crew member on the railroad gang, the log scaler, timber faller and ended his career as Medco’s Bull Buck, retiring in 1986.
   
Mr. Conley served in the U.S. Army in the 10th Mountain division, 85th Mountain Regiment in Italy during World War II, where he participated in three major campaigns, including Mt. Della Spay and Mt. Belvedere.
   
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, mules and telling interesting stories.
   
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Anzel Patrick Conley of Cottage Grove and Gordon Wayne Conley of Bend; four granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
   
Services were held at the Butte Falls Community Bible Church on June 21. Arrangements by Conger-Morris, Medford
