In Loving Memory of Hans Daniel Jensen
Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather

Hans D. Jensen was born on August 2, 1920 in Berthoud, Colorado. His parents were Peter and Christina Jensen. He died peacefully on June 22, 2007 just shy of his 87th birthday in Medford, Oregon, after a short illness.
He spent the early years of his life in Berthoud, where he enjoyed being a boy, hunting and fishing, living on his families dairy farm. On his 10th birthday he and his family moved to California and settled in Tulare, where the family car broke down. He graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1939, where he lettered in football and track. Hans held the California State track record for the 880 yard run for many years. He also attended College of the Sequoias in Visalia until he entered the U.S. Army in August of 1944.
He fought on the Denmark and German fronts in WWII while assigned to the 84th Infantry Div. and temporarily assigned to the 15th Cavalry Mechanized under the command of General George E. Patton. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 3, 1946 with the rank of Tech. Sergeant.
After his discharge from active duty, Hans went to work for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in Hanford, California. He and his crews worked throughout the San Joaquin Valley from Bakersfield to Fresno, over to Moro Bay and the coast, installing phone lines and poles. His work also took him through Northern California, including the Monterey Bay area.
On February 22, 1946 Hans married Duane E. Cobb Richardson, in Reno, Nevada. Duane was from Hanford, where they lived and raised their children. In 1966, the Jensen family moved to the Santa Cruz area. In 1992 Hans and Duane moved to Shady Cove, OR., where they both resided until their passing; Duane in  July of 1997 and Hans in June of 2007.
Hans is survived by his siblings Rosie Yorke, Clovis, CA, Anna Marie Southerd, Mesa, AZ, Virgil Jensen ans Arthur Jensen, both of Tulare, CA. He is also survived by his daughter Dana L. Borges of Shady Cove, OR, and son Darrell R. Jensen of Sequim, WA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Augustus de Vires, Jr., and Randi Belcher, both of California, Darrell Jensen, Jr., Robert Jensen, David Jensen and John Jensen, all of the state of Washington. Also surviving are numerous great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his father Peter, his mother Christina and brother Dwight Jensen.
Hans retired from the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in 1982, in Santa Cruz, CA. after 45 years of service.
He was a kind and generous man who loved his family deeply and loved from the heart. He is missed and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and all his kind deeds.
