Top placings at 4-H/FFA Spring Fair

The Jackson County 4-H and FFA Market Lamb Auction saw 213 lambs go across the auction block this year. The average price was $4.84 a pound. The three pens of rabbits average $48.27 a pound.  This year’s gross  sales were $135,000. Lambs were down 28 cents a pound this year.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb honors went to Crater FF A member Jake Warnjtes. Sherm’s Food 4 Less purchased the 147 pound animal for $26 a pound.
The 4-H Grand  Reserve Champion was Kylah Reynolds, of Bear Creek Livestock. Her 146 lb. sold to Sterling Savings and Dr. Mark Peterson for $26 a pound.
The Reserve Champion FFA honors went to Paige Marino of the Rogue River FFA. Lithia purchased her 129 lb. lamb for $6.50 a pound.
The Reserve Champion 4-H Market Lamb was one owned by Mikayla Childers of Riverbend 4-H. She got $8 a pound for her 144 lb. lamb. The purchaser was Ken Trautman for People’s Bank.
Kara Vezzani of Westside Rabbiteers had the Grand Champion Pen of Fryer Rabbits. The  pen weighed 11.6 pounds. It was purchased by  Sterling Bank for $100 a pound.
Jacquelyn Brown, Eagle Point, and a member of Hop to it GEMS 4-H had the Reserve Champion 4-H pen of fryer rabbits. Davis Finish Products purchased the 13.1 lbs. for $22 a pound.
Bryce Thornton, of Hop to it Gems sold his Champion 4-H Pen of  Roaster Rabbits weighing 15.7 lbs for $32 a pound.
