Arnold Sortland

Arnold Sortland,  88, of Butte Falls died July 10, 2008 at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born April 16, 1920 in Luverne, No. Dakota. He moved with his family to the West Coast in 1925. Over the years he lived in many cities in the western states, driven by a desire to try out a new place or a new job.
During WWII he  was stationed in England from 1942-1946. In addition to his military service, he experienced many varied careers, ranging from law enforcement to car sales.
On April 3, 1991, he married Roberta B. Burton in LaMoile, Nevada. They lived in Butte Falls for the 17 years of their marriage, spending many happy years traveling in the southwest, visiting family and friends and savoring their time together.
Mr. Sortland was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mabel, who died in 1988; their son, Lee, and daughter, Sylvia.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta and two grandchildren, several step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
