Girls fastpitch seek funds for national tournament

The Eagles Fastpitch Softball 14U "B" ASA girls are headed to the Western National B Softball Tournament in Salem, July 28-Aug. 3. They placed fifth in the state tournament held in Beaverton, July 4-6, which gave the team the right to participate in the national tourney.

But, it costs money, even though they won’t be traveling far. They need $3,000 by July 23. As is always the case with ball tournaments, the timeline is extremely short for fund raising.

The team probably would appreciate donations in any amount, but they have promotions for some levels of donation. A donation of $250 or more will have a space on the team banner, displayed at their dugout, two T-shirts and a framed 5×7 team sponsor photo. Blue level, which is $200-$250 will receive one T-shirt and a framed 4×6 photo.

There were 34 teams in the State B tournament. Eagle Point had three wins and two losses qualifying them for the national event. There will be 60 to 70 teams coming from as far as Wyoming, Colorado, Hawaii, California, Washington and Arizona. It will be a double elimination event with a four game guarantee.
