Despite temperatures hovering around 105 degrees, the community turned out for the Grand Opening of the Eagle Point Branch Rogue Federal.
It was an Eagle Point party with hometown favorites Mike Boren and Jason Johnston serenading in the early evening.
There was the official ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. followed by pony rides for the younger set, refreshments, tours, and lots of get reacquainted handshakes.
Among those shaking hands, Jack Jones, who spent 32 years as a District 9 teacher and has been on the Rogue Federal Board of Directors for 42 years. Gene Pelham, CEO of Rogue Federal, was one of his students.
Pat Jacobson was named manager of the Eagle Point branch and many welcomed her back home. Jacobson started out at Evergreen Federal in Eagle Point (in the building now occupied by Dan Horton, architect); and from there she joined Crater Bank, which became Western Bank. She left the banking business for several years to operate her own business and when it sold she returned to area and spent some time at South Valley Bank’s White City branch until being named manager for Rogue Federal.
Jacobson was recently selected to fill an opening on the Eagle Point City Council. She is president-elect of the Eagle Point Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Eagle Point Community Association and of the Eagle Point Women’s Club.
