The 2008 Prospect Bluegrass Festival will be held on July 11 through 13

This year’s festival, hosted by the Prospect Lions Club at the Prospect Lions Park, will be more fun than ever with some of the best bluegrass bands in Oregon, an old-fashioned barn dance and wonderful parkin’ lot pickin’ all weekend.

Festival headliners include True North from Salem, Oregon, Green
Mountain Bluegrass Band,from Eugene, Siskiyou Summit from the Rogue
Valley, The Mighty Lonesomes from Ashland, Gold River from Grants Pass
and local favorites, the Goldman Family Band from Eagle Point, along
with the Rogue Valley’s Old-Time Fiddlers and more.
returning to the festival will be Leon Flick, the entertaining and
award-winning Cowboy Poet with his humorous take on life. Plus, this
year’s festival will feature an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance on Saturday
night with well-known caller Todd Silverstein from Salem and the
Generic String Band from Ashland. The family-oriented dance, held at
the Prospect Community Hall, will feature squares, rounds, contras,
waltzes and kid’s
dances. All ages and abilities are welcome; instruction will be given.
activities at the festival will include a Bluegrass Band Scramble on
Saturday morning, a Gospel Open-Mic on Sunday morning, Kid’s Jam on
Sunday afternoon, craft booths by regional artisans. Enjoy a pancake
breakfast on Sunday morning, lunch on Saturday and Sunday by the
Prospect Lionesses and barbecue dinner on Saturday evening plus lots of
campground pickin’ all weekend.
The festival will begin on
Friday, July 11 at 6 p.m. with the Dale Albee Memorial Bonfire Jam and
hot dog roast. Along with great music, hot dogs and buns, the
festival’s Friday night activities will be free to the public.
