Eagle Point Inn developer turns property over to the bank

According to information sent to the City of Eagle Point, title to the property for the Inn at Eagle Point, which was to include a hotel, condominiums and townhouses, has been transferred to Bank of the Cascades.

Ausland Builders of Grants Pass has been involved in developing the plans for the hotel, condos and bungalows for about two years and has construction drawings between 90 and 100 percent finished on all phases. The infra structure is in for the development.

A call placed to Ausland last week was not returned.

R.W. Hertel & Sons, Inc. acquired the 10 acre site from Cris Galpin in the fall of 2006.

The web site for R.W. Hertel has been disabled.

According to a July 30 article in the Ventura Country Star, Ventura, CA., R.W. Hertel has a long history of accusations about defective building.

A June 26 article in The Modesto Bee says R.W. Hertel & Sons has been site in a civil liability of a $250,000 fine for an issue involving water and a chemical in the water in an 86-acre development called Diablo Grande in western Stanislaus County, Calif.  development. A former president of R W Hertel, said the accusations were untrue, according to the newspaper article.

Complaints about R.W. Hertel’s construction date back to 2006 for projects in California. However, Hertel was not going to be the builder on this project, Ausland was to have been.
