Harnish may feature Halloween event

Harnish Park staff have  approached the Parks & Recreation Department wishing to do an autumn event at the park.  Specifically, a Halloween event targeted for youth.  The City has budgeted $5,000 in the current budget for Harnish education and outreach.  The Police Dept. has committed to providing neon glow necklaces with ‘Eagle Point Police Dept.’ printed on them to hand out to participants.  The event could be billed as "Hallow’s Rockin’ Eve at Harnish!"  Music such as ‘Monster Mash’, ‘Purple People Eater’, ‘Time Warp’, etc would all, of course, be the music for the night.

Specifics will be shared with the Parks and Recreation Commission at
their meeting  Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at city hall.  They are
considering holding the event between  event would occur between 6 p.m.
– 9 p.m. on Friday, October 31st.
A few simple
carnival-like games, an hourly costume contest and a pumpkin carving
contest could be held.  The pumpkin carving will not occur onsite, but
rather participants will be encouraged to bring theirs from home.  A
large trash container would be provided to take care of extras left
over.  The theme will in no way be scary, but rather cartoonish and no
blood and gore.
Participants can sip cider and will be
given candy and provided healthy alternatives as well.  It is an
opportunity to bring a different type of crowd into Harnish and share
the facility with the locals.  Each room would have a different set up
to encourage all rooms to be visited and displays viewed.
Trick-or-Treat crowds are huge in Eagle Point on Halloween night. Come prepared to discuss and share ideas.
