Two Shady Cove artists open EP Library exhibit

Eagle Point Library’s next art exhibit will open Sept. 13 featuring local artists Dorothy Dierks and Debby Elder.
Dierks paints with oils. She was born in Corinne, Okla., but has spent most of her life in southern Oregon. She and her husband have made their home in Shady Cove for the past 17 years.

Recently art educator Bob Faulkner, of Eagle Point, has instructed Dierks in the advancement of her oil painting techniques in  still life, landscapes and seascapes.  Her paintings are an expression of the subjects as she sees them.

Debby Elder is a watercolorist. She was born in Duluth, MN., but spent most of life in southern Oregon and northern California. She is from a third generation logging family and is inspired by those memories  as well as the memories of the landscape.  She is primarily self taught although she has had some formal training from Dianne Stearns. She and her husband recently moved back to Shady Cove after an extended job in northern California.

Dierks and Elder are members of the Upper Rogue Artists.

In addition to the art opening, live bluegrass music will be provided by the Goldman Family from Eagle Point, which includes mom, dad and their seven children.  Music will be from 2-3 with refreshments from 3-4 p.m.
