Jay sparks will conclude his years with D9 in June

This school year will be the last for Jay Sparks as principal of White City Elementary. He submitted his resignation to Supt. Cynda Rickert the week of Nov. 10 and advised his staff early last week.
Sparks will complete the 2008-09 school year.  His last day will be June 19, 2009.
He said he has no immediate plans, but may try something different.
Sparks began his education career at the age of 23 with District 9. His first three years were at White City Intermediate with the next 27 at White City Elementary.
"Jay’s leaving will be a real loss to the White City  community," said retired educator Bill Jones.  "For 30 years  Jay has been an integral part of the community. I don’t think people know what a special educator he really is. From a teacher-leader to the leader of teachers, he is really very special," said Jones.
Sparks became WCE principal when Jones vacated that position to become District 9 superintendent.
