Robert (Bob) Harper

Bob Harper, 67, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at his home in southern Arizona. He was born July 15, 1941, in Santa Monica, Calif., to James Harper and Mildred Gilmore. He graduated from Canoga Park High School.
Following graduation, Mr. Harper enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1960 to 1964 aboard the U.S.S. Hector. The last year of his enlistment, he met and married his wife of 44 years, Linda Carter.
In 1967, Bob and his wife moved to Oregon. In 1970 they built a home in the Sams Valley area where they raised their two sons and lived until 2001. Bob worked 34 years as a core layer in Oregon plywood mills. He retired in 2001 from Boise Cascade in White City.
He was an active member of the Sams Valley Lions Club and a regular at Rainey’s Corner. Bob is known for his terrific sense of humor and his willingness to help people. He loved camping and fishing and "do it yourself projects."
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his two sons, Dennis and Jonathan; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his twin brother, James; sisters, Beverly and Donna; brother, Michael and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial will be held in Oregon at a later date.
