Darrell J. Cooper, 73, of Eagle Point, died Jan. 8, 2009 at home surrounded by family.
He was born in Glenwood Springs, CO, May 21, 1935. He spent most of his life in Santa Rosa, CA., moving to Medford in 1982 and to Eagle Point in 1999. He was a truck driver for most of his life. He also had Cooper’s Custom Engine & Machine Shop for several years, where he enjoyed building successful race motors. He greatly enjoyed the sport of car racing and drag racing, spending many years doing both.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene, three sons Darrell D Cooper, Las Vegas, NV. Ed Cooper, Parhump, NV, Bruce Cooper, Santa Rosa, CA, and two daughters, Cheryll Rugo, Ukiah, CA and Ali Ostello, Santa Rosa, CA., 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He has one sister, Glee Gilles, of Santa Rosa, CA., a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Kim.
