Friday Jan. 9, the Eagles hosted the Mazama Vikings in their Southern Sky Conference home opener. The Eagles came up short of their first conference victory by a score of 51-67. The Eagles hung tough through the first half, leading at the break 24-20.
Mazama came out of the half-time break with a sense of urgency and aided by eight Eagle Point turnovers out scored the Eagles 29-12 to take control of the game. The Eagles battled back into it in the early part of the 4th quarter cutting the Vikings lead to eight, but Mazama’s superior depth prevailed. Individually the Eagles were led by Austin Rowley with 17 points, Logan Winter counted 15 points hitting 3 of Eagle Points 4 – 3 point field goals. Tyrone Holmes chipped in with 8 points and led the Eagles with 16 rebounds which were a season and career high. Austin Marlia led with 4 assists, and Austin Rowley contributed 3 assists.
The Eagles record fell to 7-6 overall and 0-2 in Southern Sky Conference play.
