Eagle Point High School 15 member varsity cheerleading squad is in competition at the state level. Competing proved to be somewhat of a problem at the first event, because of the weather. Consequently, they sent a video. Their next event was held at South Umpqua Jan. 10 where they tied with Crater High School for first place. Last weekend they were competing at Sheldon. The JV team placed third at South Umpqua.
Coach Jenn Parrott said the team received word on Jan. 12 that the varsity team has been invited to the national competition in Anaheim, Calif., in March. Eagle Point will be the only southern Oregon team in the national event. “This is the first time ever that Eagle Point cheerleaders have been invited to national competition. We are excited,” said Parrott.
She noted the girls will each need to earn $500 to make the trip Mar. 25-29.
