Wrestling at home, Jan 22

Eagle Point competed at the Oregon Classic at the Deshutes County Fairgrounds January 9 and 10.  The team placed second in their pool on Friday defeating Madras HS 39-27 and St. Helens HS 40-22, then falling to Crook County HS 46-19.  Saturday’s competition began with EP wrestling Thurston HS (the winner of another pool).  Thurston HS won the dual with a score of 44-22.  EP then had a dual meet with Marshfield HS and defeated them with a score of 61-18.
Steven Josephson and Josh Winter went undefeated on the weekend for the Eagles.
The team currently has an 8-2 record.  After losing the season opener to North Medford High School, Eagle Point placed 3rd at Phoenix tournament the next day. The team went 3-1 at the Phoenix tournament losing to Phoenix HS 31-36. 
Eagle Point hosted a dual meet tournament with five visiting teams Jan. 3. They went 5-0 on the day, defeating Hidden Valley HS, Marshfield HS, Reed HS (NV), McQueen HS (NV), and Del Norte HS (CA).
Coach McNulty said the team is working very hard and looks forward to  support when they host Mazama HS in their first home league dual of the year on Jan. 22. The Eagle Point Invitational will be held on Jan. 24 and looks to be very competitive with 15 visiting teams.
