Dolores Frances Hutchins

Dolores Frances Hutchins, 81,  died Feb. 1, 2009 in Redmond Ore.
    
She was born in Lebanon, Ore. to Merle (Pierpoint) and Frank Weisner, on Dec. 23, 1928.
   
After graduating from Corvallis High School in June 1946, she married Maurice Charles Hutchins on Dec. 23, 1946. She then completed the required training for and received certification as an official and commercial seed analyst. For 22 years she worked for Oregon State University Seed Laboratory in Corvallis and for Townsend Commercial Seed Testing in Tangent, Ore.

In 1991, she retired as manager of the True Test Commercial Seed Lab in
Halsey, Ore. After retiring she moved to Waldport, Ore. and enjoyed the
good life of coastal living until July 2004. She was living in Redmond
when she succumbed to a lengthy battle with cancer.
Ms. Hutchins was
a longtime member of St. Luke’s By The Sea Episcopal Church in Waldport
and a recent member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Shady Cove. She
was a retired member of Society of Commercial Seed Technologists.
   
Ms. Hutchins enjoyed her family, career, the out-of-doors, travel, beachcombing and photography.
   
She
is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, and son, Merle. Survivors
include her sons, David, of Prineville, and Robert, of Redmond,
daughter, Janet Hutchins, Central Point, five grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
   
A graveside service is scheduled at 1
p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at Oakville Cemetery, Oakville, Ore., followed
by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good
Samaritan in Corvallis, Ore.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be given to Seashore Family Learning Literacy Center in Waldport or
St. Luke’s by The Sea Episcopal Church in care of McHenry Funeral Home,
