Shady Cove MS girls split games

The Lady Wolverines 6th grade basketball team split their games this week with a close win against White City, and a tough loss to St. Mary’s at home.  Monday’s game in White City started out slow, with a 8-2 half-time score, but White City came back to score 9 points in the 3rd quarter, taking the lead. The Wolverines fought back with 8 points in the 4th quarter, with a final score of 18-13.  Lead scorers were Brenna Blankenship and Kiana Sweem, with Hanna Carnes, Brittany Zomerdyk, and Miranda Kayser also putting up points.


Thursday the Wolverines were back home against an older and taller St.
Mary’s team. SC led in the 1st quarter and barely trailed until St.
Mary’s scored 8 unanswered points in the final quarter, for a score of
9-20. Brenna Blankenship put up 4 points, Kiana Sweem scored 2 points,
and Lucy Linville and Miranda Kayser each scored free throws.  The
Wolverines are now 3-1 in their season. This week Shady Cove will host
New Hope, then travel to Ruch on Thursday.
