Mendenhall nominated

Chief Rick Mendenhall has been nominated as an America’s Most Wanted All-Star. The contest seeks to honor first responders who go above and beyond the call of duty to provide superior service to their communities.

Chief Mendenhall was nominated by a citizen who cited the chief’s
multifaceted public safety experience, cooperative demeanor, and
dedication to helping others.  Chief Mendenhall has led the Shady Cove
Police Department since 2004.  He spent 20 years working as a
firefighter/paramedic, retiring in 2007 from Jackson County Fire
District #4 in Shady Cove.  In recent years, the chief has been called
upon to assist other agencies in rescue and recovery missions,
garnering national media attention.
The All-Star contest is
held on the America’s Most Wanted website, where people can vote for
their favorite first responder.  Finalists are announced weekly on the
America’s Most Wanted television show (Saturdays at 8pm, FOX).
Mendenhall says if he receives enough votes to win the $10,000 prize,
he will donate the money to the new school-sponsored teen center slated
to open soon.
