With ice scrapers in hand and lots of rub-a-dub-dub, Lynn Scott, principal of Little Butte School, Phil Ortega, D9 attendance officer, Brian Morton, KDRV news anchor and Derek Kevra, KDRV weatherman, pushed those scrapers to $2,459 in lottery dollars for Little Butte School.

"This is more money than I’ve had in my budget for the entire year," said Scott. "We are so excited."  LBS staff is putting together a list of places to spend the money. Scott said the money will go to real needs for the school and she expects the decision will be made this week.

Each year inquiries are sent out from the lottery seeking participants. LBS sent in their reply as they do every year. The difference, they were selected this year. Scott selected Ortega to join her. "He deserved to have something fun with the kind of job he does on a daily basis." The lottery teamed the school and the TV station.

The LBS-KDRV team beat all other southern Oregon elementary schools and came in second highest of all competitors in the area, including high schools.
