Anna May Epley Chisholm, 91, of Shady Cove, died May 7, 2009, at Skylark Assisted Living, in Ashland.
She was born May 26, 1917 to Cecil and Elizabeth Epley in Dayton, Wash. She was raised on a farm. It was there she experienced some of her best times, taking with her the lessons of life that would make her the wonderful strong woman she was.
After graduating from high school in 1936, she attended beauty school in Spokane,Was. On Feb. 18, 1939, she married James Wesley Chisholm. In July 1941, they welcomed their only child, Judy.
Mr. Chisholm joined the Navy. The family was stationed in San Francisco where he was a military police officer and Mrs. Chisholm was a homemaker, taking on the occasional odd job. After Mr.Chisholm was honorably discharged, they moved several times before settling in Saratoga, Calif. Where they opened Village Shoe Repair, which they successfully operated until Mr. Chisholm’s death in 1978.
Mrs. Chisholm moved to Shady Cove a few years later and in 2004 moved to Skylark Assisted Living in Ashland.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Ron) Conopa of Shady Cove and three grandchildren; a sister, Lela Epley Easton, of Spokane; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, a brother, Clare Epley and sister, Dorothy Thompson.
No service is planned at her request. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Saratoga, Calif., on May 27, 2009. Arrangements by Conger-Morris, Medford.
