April showers have ended and May flowers are in bloom. With that indication, the end of the school year is rapidly approaching. For about 220 seniors at EPHS, the end of this school year indicates the ensuing completion of the graduation requirements. Students have been reminded several times about important dates, but if you are the parents of a Class of 2009 graduate, here are the important dates that you need to know.
All students should have turned in a graduation agreement. Senior springboard presentations will be on May 21. This is a graduation requirement and must be completed prior to receiving a diploma (students must also have completed two career related learning experiences). Final exams for seniors will be on May 28 and 29. May 29 is the last academic day for seniors. June 1 and 2, seniors will attend classes to do their final checkouts. These two dates are also for completing any missing work that is required for graduation.
June 2 at 4 p.m., final checkout must be completed (this also includes having all fines and fees paid in full). Students failing to complete checkout by that time will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. June 3 features the graduation breakfast, the farewell assembly and mandatory graduation practice. The senior breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. and graduation practice will begin at 1:30 p.m. (students not participating in graduation practice will not walk in the ceremony on Friday). The final event will be the graduation ceremony at 7:30 pm. on Friday night, June 5.
Please continue to encourage your student to finish the school year strong. It has been a pleasure having your student at our school and we are very proud of the Class of 2009.
