Kenneth Dean Trautman, age 79, died May 10, 2009 in Medford, OR. He was born January 28, 1930 in Herrick, South Dakota to Herbert & Julia Trautman. Ken and his family moved to Oregon in 1934 to Grants Pass, OR. His family later moved to Central Point in 1937, where he graduated from Central Point High School in 1948. He also served in the National Guard during the Korean War. He began working at Elk Lumber Company as a lumber grader and retired in 1992 from Boise Cascade in Medford. He enjoyed wood working, camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, and was especially proud of his grand children and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin sisters, his granddaughter Alyssa Snook, and his older brother Leo Trautman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Juanita Trautman, his children Laurie Ann [Bob] Kleker of Eagle Point, Kenneth Dean [Kathy] Trautman, Jr. of Central Point, Teresa B. Alexander of Redding, CA, and Karilu Marie [Jered] James of Central Point. He is also survived by his brothers Milo Trautman of Central Point, Herbert Trautman of Central Point, sisters Ortha Reich of Grants Pass, Margaret Bell of Merced, CA and Nita Tawakal of Merced, CA as well as eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at the Hope Christian Church by Pastor Aaron Veach at 325 Oak Street in Central Point. Memorial Donations may be made to the Tim Trautman Memorial Scholarship, care the of D-9 Foundation, at PO Box 548, Eagle Point, OR 97524.
