Heritage gardens and heirloom plants will be the topic presented by Master Gardener Marjorie Neal at the Lake Creek Historical Society dinner, May 27.
Neal will talk about what heirloom plants are, where to find them and how they fit in today’s garden. She will use the Hanley Farm garden in Central Point of an example of a garden dating from 1857, which has been developed by three generations of women.
Neal will tell stories about the pioneers who helped make the Hanley garden so special; people such as the first nurserymen in Oregon, a special plant hybridizer and a visionary forester.
Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. The event is at the Pioneer Hall in Lake Creek.
