Robert Louis Williams

Robert Louis Williams, 81, of Shady Cove, died April 29, 2009 after a long fight with diabetes.    
Bob passed away peacefully in Medford Wednesday night with his family close beside him. Bob was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Los Angeles Ca and spent most of his childhood in Hawthorne. He graduated from Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, CA in 1946.
 

Bob met Shirley Jean Reinholdson in 1942 at the corner grocery where he
worked after school. They married on February 18, 1950. In 1955, Bob
bought that store, and he and Shirley and the children worked there
until his retirement in 1977.
   
Bob belonged to the
Hawthorne Diplomats, a Little League exchange program that brought
children from their sister city of Perral, Mexico together with
American children to play baseball.
   
He loved building and racing boats, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
    
Bob
was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Williams and Kathleen
Steiner Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years,
Shirley Jean, his sister, Jean Wilson, his beloved children, Patrick
Gregory, Pamela Gail, Timothy Mark, and Christopher Dale, and
grandchildren DeAnn Maurice, DeNae Marie, Patrick Gregory II, and
Gregory Allen, as well as countless friends and family whom were all
blessed to be part of his life.
         
Friends and family
are invited to attend a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass at
11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic
Church, 56 Williams Lane, Shady Cove, followed by a remembrance lunch
in the church hall.
   
The family requests that in lieu of
