Trent Kaiser, a junior at Eagle Point High School, and a member of the EPHS Wrestling and Club West Wrestling Teams, was recently named to the 2009 Oregon Junior National Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling Team. Trent is one of only two Rogue Valley wrestlers to secure a spot on the team to represent Oregon at one of the largest junior division tournaments in the United States. The tournament will be held at the North Dakota State University Fargo dome in July of this year.
The highlights of Trent’s junior season begin with a first place finish at 130 lbs. in the Southern Sky Conference District Tournament, fifth place at 130 lbs. at Collegiate State in Portland, fourth place at 140 lbs. in freestyle and third place at 140 lbs. in greco-roman at the State Tournament held in Hood River, and a fourth place finish at 140 lbs. in greco-roman at the Regional Tournament held in Battleground, Washington.
In addition to wrestling, Trent plays football and runs track for EPHS.
He is very active in Student Leadership and is serving as the Southern
Oregon Representative for the Oregon Association of Student Councils
this year, which involves teaching leadership skills to students and
frequent meetings with other leaders throughout the state. Trent
maintains a 3.5 GPA and is a part of the National Honor Society. His
future plans include attending a university and majoring in business
Trent is very excited and honored to have the
opportunity to represent Oregon Wrestling in this national tournament
in Fargo. The total cost to participate is $1,600.00 and includes
airfare, hotel, ground transportation, entry fees, a one week training
camp at Oregon State University and three separate training sessions
also held at Oregon State University. He attended the first training
session on May 2nd.
Trent is asking for and is very appreciative
of any tax-deductible contribution the community members can make on
his behalf to attend the national tournament. The program is run by
the Oregon Wrestling Association, a non-profit organization that makes
wrestling available to all ages and genders throughout the state (Tax
