The popular "Babies in the Library" program, in both English and Spanish, will again be at the White City Branch Library, 3143 Avenue C.
This new eight-week session will start on Thursday, June 18, and
continue each Thursday through August 6. At 12 noon the Babies program
will be held in English, and then repeated at 1 p.m. for
These programs are for
prewalking babies (0-12 months) accompanied by a caring adult. Siblings
are welcome, as are moms, dads, grandparents, caregivers, etc. Each
session of "Babies in the Library" will focus on a different early
literacy skill such as rhyming, repetition, reading aloud, and oral
language. All of these skills are taught within a thirty-minute
storytime of songs, bounces, and reading, followed by a half-hour of
play and chat time.
"Babies in the Library" is funded by a
grant from the John and Betty Gray Early Childhood Project through the
Oregon Community Foundation and supported by the Jackson County Library
