It is registration time for the annual Forest and Range Day Camp, put on by the Jackson Soil & Water Conservation District.
The camp is June 22-26. Participants are picked up at 7:30 a.m. at a specified location by the Rogue Valley Mall and returned to that location by 5:30 p.m. The camp is for incoming 5th-7th grade students interested in the natural world.
There will be a different adventure each day. Among the activities, they will learn how to milk a cow and help turn milk into butter and ice cream. They will be able to climb trees with experts, see sheep being shorn and then spin wool into yarn.
Other events will include an opportunity to watch horses as they log trees, build a fire line for fire prevention and test creek water to see what creatures live in it. And there are a number of other special events.
The last day is parents day. They will be invited to join the camp for the day and enjoy an afternoon bbq at Emigrant Lake.
The camp cost is $60. To register or obtain more information call Angie at (541) 734-2143.
